Delete Your NukeAlert Account
This page explains how to permanently delete your NukeAlert account and associated data, what gets removed, and what — if anything — we must retain.
1) Delete directly in the app (recommended)
The fastest way is to delete your account from inside NukeAlert:
- Open the NukeAlert app on your device.
- Open the Account page by tapping your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the action. Your account and associated data will be permanently removed from our systems.
2) Request deletion by email
If you can no longer access the app (for example, you lost access to the email used to sign in), you can request deletion by email.
Send an email from the email address associated with your NukeAlert account to help@nuke-alert.com with the subject line "Delete my NukeAlert account".
We will verify the request, process it within 30 days, and send a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.
3) What data is deleted
The following account-linked data is permanently removed when you delete your account:
- Account data — email address, account identifier, hashed authentication credentials, and any Google OAuth profile information we stored.
- Profile data — nickname, selected app language, theme preference, and any profile text you provided.
- Community signals — your community risk votes (High risk / Low risk), emoji reactions (👍 🔥 😢 😠 🤝), and your upvotes/downvotes on comments.
- Comments and reports — comment text you posted and reports you submitted on other users' comments.
- Notification data — your push notification token / OneSignal subscriber id and your notification preferences.
4) What data is retained
For security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance, a small amount of data may be kept after your account is deleted:
- Anonymized, aggregated usage data that cannot be linked back to you — for example, aggregate counts of risk votes on an article — may be retained to preserve the integrity of the crowd-signal scoring.
- Security and abuse logs (e.g., IP/session metadata used for fraud and abuse prevention) may be retained for a limited period as required for security.
- Legally required records, retained only for the minimum period required by applicable law.
- Backups may still contain your data for up to 30 days after deletion, after which backups are overwritten in the normal rotation.
